Artist Statement
My Gregor’s room installation capitalizes on the idea of the transformation that the story centralizes around, every piece of furniture made to resemble a bug, whether it be through color or shape. The window being colored like a bee and the pillow being made to be a centipede. The only piece of this project that isn’t a bug directly is Gregor, whom is represented through a cocoon or chrysalis, this being done in order to represent the change he went through in the story. Another aspect of the colors for my pieces was the outline seen on every piece, blue being interpreted as the coldness outside both figuratively and literally. When you take all of this in, the cocoon seen on the bed shows that a transformation is happening regardless of how the being inside feels.
